Games like Clash of Clans: build, raid and defend with heroes

Looking for games like Clash of Clans: a village to build, troops to train, attacks on other players and a group to play with? Astrakeep, Djoox Studio's strategy game, takes that loop to a kingdom of floating islands and adds a 90-level hero tower defense campaign. You build, you raid, you defend, and your heroes hold the walls even when you're not around. Astrakeep is coming soon to Android.

What people love about Clash of Clans

Clash of Clans, developed by Supercell, is one of the best-known strategy games on mobile. You build and upgrade a village, gather resources, train troops to attack other players' villages, and join a clan to play together.

What players come for: watching their base grow, the tension of a well-planned attack, and the social life of a clan. When people search for games like Clash of Clans, they want those same feelings, often with a different world or a twist on the mechanics. What Astrakeep shares with Clash of Clans

A kingdom to build

In Astrakeep, your base is the Kingdom of Astra: 4 floating islands to unlock and 10 buildings to upgrade up to level 15. The Crystal Tower is its heart, and its level caps every other building. The Sylvan Sawmill, Moonstone Quarry and Mana Well produce wood, stone and mana, and the Enchanted Storehouse raises how much you can hold. Construction keeps going even when the game is closed. If building is what you enjoy most, read our page on kingdom building games for mobile.

Troops and raids

The Barracks train four troop types: the Footman, the Shield guard, the Griffin and the Crystal colossus. Each one has the upper hand over another: footmen swarm shield guards, shield guards stop griffins, griffins take down colossi and colossi crush footmen. Be warned: troops you send into battle don't come back.

Your troops raid five rival villages, from the Goblin Stronghold to the Dragon Bastion, to steal their resources and earn renown. These villages defend themselves with archer, sorcery and frost towers, and they can strike back.

Attacks between players

The world map shows other players' kingdoms. You scout a village, then your army marches to it; the assault plays out as you drop troop cards into lanes, or automatically. After you've been raided, a shield protects you for 6 hours, and you can take revenge on anyone who attacked you in the last 24 hours. Renown takes you up the ranks from Squire to King. It's all covered in our page on tower defense PvP on mobile.

An alliance to play with

You can join an alliance or found your own, open to everyone or by request. Members help each other finish construction faster and chat together, with built-in message translation. You can also launch a rally to attack as a group. Territories to conquer, alliance wars and alliance bosses are planned in the game. Learn more in our page on strategy games with alliances.

What's genuinely different

A hero tower defense campaign

This is the big difference. Astrakeep gives you a 90-level campaign across 18 chapters, each ending with a boss. You place your heroes on platforms along a path to stop waves of shadow creatures, and every level you win brings in wood and stone for your kingdom.

Heroes at the center of everything

Seven heroes, from Lyra the Archer to Sylvara the Empress, defend your islands in the campaign and against rivals alike. You choose their defense formation; against other players, your 3 best heroes defend your village, even while you're offline. Heroes grow stronger with levels, stars and dedicated buildings such as the Rune Forge.

Shop rules stated up front

Astrakeep is free to play with optional in-app purchases. The game states that everything is sold at a listed price with no paid random draws, and that gems are for speed-ups and peace shields but never buy summons.

To prepare your first attacks, our guide to Astrakeep troops and raids explains each troop and how an assault plays out.

Frequently asked questions

Is Astrakeep a Clash of Clans clone?

No. Both games share base building, troops, attacks between players and playing as a group. But Astrakeep is also built around a 90-level hero tower defense campaign, and it's your heroes who defend your kingdom.

Can I play Astrakeep with friends?

Yes, through an alliance: you help each other with construction, chat, and launch rallies to attack together. You can also send private messages, with a setting to choose who's allowed to write to you.

Can my village be attacked when I'm not playing?

Yes. Your heroes defend your kingdom using the formation you've set, even when you're offline. After a raid, a 6-hour shield protects you, and a report sums up the attacks when you return.
