Play together, each at your own pace
Setting up a live game with a friend isn't always easy: different schedules, patchy signal, a game cut short. The social modes in Zertyzzle, the crystal merge puzzle game, are designed around that. You challenge each other, play whenever you have a minute, and the game handles the comparison.
Add friends with a friend code
It all starts with your friend code: a 6-character code you can send in any message. Your friend enters it on the Friends screen and you're connected. You can have up to 100 friends.
Inviting someone pays off, too: when the friend you invited finishes level 10, you both get stardust and Hammers.
Duels: the exact same board
The duel is the heart of playing with friends. You challenge a friend and you both play the exact same board, with the same crystals. No blaming bad luck: the better player wins.
- Whoever plays first sets the score to beat; the other player has 3 days to answer.
- The game shows a win, a loss or a tie, and you can ask for a rematch.
- You can have up to 10 duels going at once.
- Scores are checked before they count.
Teams: up to 20 players, one goal a week
Prefer playing as a group? Join a team or start your own. A team holds up to 20 players. Every season point a member earns (cleared levels, challenges, quests) moves the weekly goal forward. When the team hits a milestone, chests open for everyone who chipped in, with stardust and sometimes a card pack. An emoji chat keeps the encouragement flowing.
The Weekly Rift and the friends leaderboard
Every week, the Weekly Rift gives everyone the same challenge: the same board, a surprise rule every Monday and no boosters. Your best score places you in a league of 30 players; the top 5 move up and the bottom 5 move down, from Quartz all the way to Zertyon. Every score is verified by our servers.
With friends added, you also get a friends leaderboard for the Weekly Rift, so there's no arguing about who had the best week.
Gift cards and share levels
- Duplicate cards from your album (45 illustrated cards to collect) can be given to friends, up to 5 a day. Handy for helping someone finish a set. The album is covered in the Zertyzzle collection guide.
- The level editor lets you build a level and send it as a short code; your friend enters the code and tries to beat it.
- Score sharing creates an image of your result to drop into a chat.

Good to know before you play together
- You need an internet connection for the social features: duels, teams, the Weekly Rift and card gifts. Map levels work offline (see our page on offline puzzle games).
- It isn't real-time multiplayer: you don't play at the same instant, you play the same board or toward the same goal.
- The game is free to play and supported by ads. Ads never interrupt a level, some are offered in exchange for a bonus if you want them, and the optional Zertyzzle Club subscription removes forced ads. The subscription gives no advantage in the Weekly Rift.
- It's not recommended for children under 13.
