The idea: make your gems grow in value
In a classic gem game, you line up stones of the same color to clear them. In Zertyzzle, the crystal merge puzzle game, every match upgrades the stone by one tier, right on the square you played.
Four crystal tiers
- Shard: the basic crystal.
- Gem: three identical Shards in a line merge into a Gem.
- Jewel: three identical Gems become a Jewel.
- Zertyon: three Jewels form a Zertyon. Tap it and it clears its whole row and column, or keep it for the right moment.
Line up five identical crystals in one move and they jump two tiers at once, so going for big matches often pays off.
Five crystal families
Crystals come in five families, each with its own color: Amber, Jade, Azure, Ruby and Violet. Only crystals from the same family and the same tier merge together. The rainbow Wildcard is the exception: it completes any line-up, whatever the family or tier.
A different way to move your gems
There's no swapping two neighboring stones here. You slide an entire row or column by one square, and the crystal pushed off one edge comes back on the other. Each move shifts several gems at once and can trigger more than one merge. When crystals merge, new ones fall in and can merge in turn: that's a chain reaction, and your points multiply. Levels built around gems
The 120 levels, spread across 12 nebulae, ask you to create a set number of specific crystals before you run out of moves. Some levels start with Gems already on the board so you can aim for Jewels sooner; others begin with Zertyons in reserve. Daily quests also ask you to create Gems, Jewels or a Zertyon.
Even the Weekly Rift leagues are named after stones: Quartz, Amethyst, Sapphire, Ruby, Diamond, with Zertyon at the very top.
Crystal themes to collect
If you love pretty stones, Zertyzzle's collection lets you change the look of your crystals, backdrop and effects. A few of the crystal themes:
- Classic, the starting look;
- Neon and Pixel, unlocked with stardust;
- Gold, in the starter pack;
- Candy, the daily wheel jackpot;
- Ice and Lava, tied to the season;
- Cosmos, Sakura and Pearl, from the shop collections;
- and an exclusive edition every month.
