Zertyzzle offers several game modes: the map with 120 levels across 12 nebulae, the daily challenge, the Weekly Rift and its leagues, duels with friends, teams, Endless mode, Zen mode, a 60-second mode and a level editor you can share with a code. Here's how each one works and what it gives you.
This page is part of the Zertyzzle guide.
The map: 120 levels across 12 nebulae
This is the heart of the game. Each nebula is a chapter: the Azure, Amber, Jade, Ruby, Violet, Prismatic, Frost, Aurora and Celestial Nebulae, then the Asteroid Belt, the Sealed Nebula and the Rainbow Nebula. Each one brings a new idea (Gems at the start, upside-down gravity, ice, rocks, padlocks, portals, Wildcards), covered on the Zertyzzle obstacles page.
Clearing a level unlocks the next, and each level is worth up to three stars. The last level of a chapter is a special level: tougher, but with double the reward. Map levels work offline, with your boosters and the extra moves your companion gives you.
The daily challenge
A new level every day, the same for everyone. Beat it to earn stardust; it also earns season points. Once it's done, the next one arrives the following day.
The Weekly Rift and leagues
The Weekly Rift is the competitive mode: the same board for everyone, a surprise rule every Monday and no boosters. The aim is to post the highest score you can, with a limited number of tries per day. Possible rules include "Classic" (five families, 20 moves), "Trio", "Upside-down gravity", "Zertyon shower" and "Gem vein".
Your best score ranks you in a group of 30 players from your league. At the end of the week, the top 5 move up and the bottom 5 move down. The six leagues, in order, are Quartz, Amethyst, Sapphire, Ruby, Diamond and Zertyon. Every score is verified by the game's servers, and the Club subscription gives no advantage in the Rift.
No connection? You can still play: your score is sent as soon as you're back online.
Duels
Challenge a friend on exactly the same board, then compare scores. Whoever plays first sets the score to beat, and a duel expires after three days. You can have up to 10 duels going at once, and ask for a rematch. Duels are played without boosters and need a connection.
To challenge someone, you first need to be friends: share your 6-character friend code or enter a friend's. When a friend you invited with your code finishes level 10, you both get a reward. If you're looking for puzzle games to play with friends on your phone, this is the mode to try.
Teams
Join a team of up to 20 players, or start your own. Every season point a member earns (levels, challenges, quests) moves the team's weekly goal forward, and each milestone reached opens a chest for everyone: stardust, sometimes with a card pack. To open chests, you need at least 20 season points that week. Team members chat with emojis.
Endless mode
Endless stages that keep getting harder, with 3 lives. Losing a stage, or leaving it, costs a life; the run ends when you have none left. Challenges arrive gradually: ice, upside-down gravity, rocks, padlocks, then Wildcards and portals. A worldwide leaderboard compares records, and you can pick a run back up later.
Free modes: Zen and 60 seconds
- Zen: no move limit, no goals. Play at your own pace and stop whenever you like from the pause menu ("End the game").
- 60 seconds: score as many points as you can in one minute. The timer starts with your first slide; combos score big.
Both modes are played without boosters and keep track of your best score. For chain techniques, see the combos and Zertyon page.
The level editor
With "Create a level", design your own levels: number of crystal colors, number of moves, gravity, starting board (with big crystals or Zertyons), goals and obstacles (ice, rocks, locks, wilds). The game checks that the level is valid and playable before giving you a short code to share. Your friends enter that code to play your creation.
Daily habits
Three quests renewed every day, one free wheel spin and a rewarded login streak round out the modes. What they bring to your collection is explained on the collection, planets and season page.
